Get tips to learn how you can upskill and retool to take your tech career to the next level.

Landing your first tech job can be tough. Here are a few tips to help you with your job search.

  1. Show Your Experience! Make a list of all your work experience and skills. Everything counts – even volunteer work. Find ways to show that you are the best person for the job.
  2. Get Connected Create an account on LinkedIn, attend local events, and network at workshops and seminars. It is important to connect with professionals in your field. Consider getting a mentor to help you navigate your career.
  3. Create A Social Media Presence Employers are looking at your presence online. Make sure that your personal social media is private, especially if there is content that might make an employer think twice about hiring you. Create a professional presence to connect with brands and influencers in your industry.
  4. Keep An Open Mind Remember you have to start somewhere. Look at opportunities to learn, gain experience and grow within a company.
  5. Update Your Resume Create separate resumes for each job application. Make sure your experience matches the job description. Consider a professional resume writer to help you impress prospective employers.
  6. Take an Internship or Volunteer Reach out to organizations in your community to find volunteer or internship openings to help you build skills and grow your network.
  7. Don’t Give Up Searching for a job is hard work. Keep pushing. Stay focused.
