A Message from NOLAVATE Black Founder

I pray you are all well as we try to find a new normal during this global pandemic. I write to you today from my home, recovering from presumptive COVID-19. Since April, I have have been ill, which has put a complete stop to our NOLAVATE Black work and our plans for Black Tech NOLA 2020. As a solopreneur of a social impact organization, it has been very hard to let go and focus on my health. Over these past several weeks, I have learned to be still, find peace, and trust God. I know so many around the world, especially in our tech community, have also been directly impacted by COVID-19.  My prayers and thoughts are with you as you adjust and find healing. I am sure you have heard of the Serenity Prayer. That prayer reminds me that there are things we can not control, but no matter the situation, it is our courage and our ability to tap into our own power that give us the strength to keep going in difficult times.

I encourage you, as you find strength in whatever propels you forward, to take care of your spirit. I truly believe we are being forced to slow down, find our center, and focus on what is really important in our lives. It has been amazing to see the world show up for each other, even though we are apart. We don’t know what the future holds. Still, I am hopeful that we will come out of this stronger and better than we were before. NOLAVATE Black will continue to meet our mission of mapping accessible pathways into the technology industry and finding ways to keep the Black Tech Collective in the Gulf Coast Region informed and connected. I ask for your patience while I get back in the swing of things. I missed you and can’t wait to virtually see you again.

Be safe. Be well. Grace always.
